A CABBIE was attacked, a takeaway shop partly wrecked and a taxi vandalised during early morning violence in Burnley.
The town's magistrates heard how Graham Ramsey Stewart, 23, had had 20 pints and four After Shocks before he headbutted the driver and set about smashing the shop with a gang of men.
The cabbie, who had sought refuge in the takeaway as he bled heavily, had been followed in by the men who set about creating mayhem as he cleaned himself up.
Stewart, whose solicitor said he was sorry for his actions, avoided a jail term after the bench told him what he had done was very serious but he had made efforts to change his lifestyle.
The defendant, of Cromer Avenue, Burnley, had earlier admitted two counts of damage and one of assault causing actual bodily harm, on July 14.
He was given a 200 hour community punishment order and ordered to pay £175 compensation and £65 costs.
