MEMBERS of the child health department at an East Lancashire trust have been singled out for a best practice award for the second time in a year.
The Child Health department at Burnley Health Care NHS Trust has been praised for the outstanding delivery of healthcare for children in Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale.
The nomination is the second time in a year the team has been short-listed for a best practice award.
In March, they were the first NHS Trust to receive the prestigious Beacon Status Award from the Government for their innovative way of delivering services.
Now the department has been short-listed under the Action for Sick Children Best Practice Award.
Lesley Doherty, director of nursing and divisional manager for child health, said: "I am delighted to hear the team have been short-listed for this award. Hospitals across the whole of the UK entered into the programme and I believe the standard of entries was very high.
"This latest announcement adds to the evidence that our child health team continue to be leaders in the delivery of modern healthcare for children."
The judges will visit the department this month and the winners will be announced later in the year.
