ROSSENDALE Borough Council are proposing a raft of measures to tackle anti-social tenants.
The new measures are aimed at ending what an official report calls "a destructive force within communities."
A council spokesman said: "Tackling anti-social behaviour effectively remains an issue high on the agenda for tenants, neighbourhoods, landlords and the government."
The government has recently produced a consultation paper "Tackling Anti- Social Tenants" which aims to increase landlords' powers to combat anti-social behaviour in the courts.
Rossendale Council intends giving landlords new powers to end tenancies, transfer perpetrators to alternative accommodation and grant immediate possession orders after breaches of court injunctions.
Members of the public will be asked to play their part. Suitably trained and skilled people will have powers to undertake specified functions in support of the police to address some forms of anti-social behaviour.
The report is set to be discussed at a meeting of the council's Community Services Committee on Thursday at Rossendale Town Hall.
