FEARS over traffic safety have forced plans for Blackpool's new £4million nightclub venue to be modified.
The developers of the former ABC Cinema which will become the Syndicate club wanted a giant video screen on the west side of the building looking down Church Street. But council worries that drivers may be distracted have meant the screen being reduced from 7.5 metres by five metres to four metres square. The change came after discussions between the club and the council.
But other changes for the exterior of the glitzy new venue - set to be England's biggest nightclub - have got the go-ahead.
The building will be clad in satin anodised aluminium with canopies leading to entrances on Church Street and King Street. Permission has also been given for high-level illuminated signs.
