COLIN Woodthorpe is claiming the goal that gave Bury a stunning Worthington Cup triumph at the Reebok.
Wanderers' French full-back Bernard Mendy was credited with an own goal for appearing to turn John Newby's cross into the net as he tried to prevent Woodthorpe reaching the ball.
But the Shakers' defender insisted: "I'm definitely claiming it
"It rebounded off the two of us a couple of times and we both ended up in the back of the net with the ball. I'm sure he won't want it."
Woodthorpe, whose claim was supported by his manager Andy Preece, picked up on the bitter disappointment in the Wanderers' camp, adding: "Being the bigger club it's a nightmare to play against teams like us."
His team-mate Danny Swailes, a self-confessed Wanderers' fan admitted: "I'll get some stick for this off my mates but I don't care."
