"OH this year we're off to sunny Spain"... goes the song.
And Derek Hoyle and partner Sue Berry have done just that, abandoning their life in leafy Lytham to set off on a brand new adventure and organise antique markets in sunny Majorca.
Derek is no stranger to the business.
Thirty years ago he organised the first Hoyles Antique Collectors Fair in Blackpool -- a forerunner for hundreds of successful fairs held on the Fylde coast, Morecambe and Southport.
Derek, who's in his sixties, also claims to have pioneered the idea of car boot sales, an event he based on his frequent visits to the USA.
"I rented some land at the rear of the Saracen's Head pub in Lymm, Cheshire 25 years ago. The idea just took off from there. It was known as 'the dealers den'."
Now, after three years' research, Derek and Sue are forsaking their Cecil Street home for Santa Ponsa, where they will run weekly antique collectors' fairs in the sunshine.
Derek, a regular at the Taps pub in Lytham, has been backward and forwards to Majorca ten times this year organising the project and has shipped out 30 stalls in readiness.
"I guess we're swapping the Taps for tapas," he joked.
The name of Hoyle's Antique Fairs will still be seen, however, as Derek's two sons, Shaun and Gene, will continue to run the business.
