LEIGH Athletic had a thumping 6-1 away win over Accrington in the Lancashire Cup.
Latics made a blistering start and were five goals to the good with a hat-trick from Neil Clayton and further strikes from Carl Sheppard and Neil Sumner.
With the game sealed within the first half hour, Leigh relaxed and only had a Gordon Walker effort to add to their tally.
Gordon Spowart was again outstanding and the return of Stve Kidd was a boost for the whole club.
After an encouraging start to the season, the Reserves were hammered 8-0 at New Mills.
