MORECAMBE and Wigan Athletic are the latest clubs being linked with Radcliffe Borough's talented young goalkeeper, Danny Hurst.
Hurst has always been at the forefront of transfer talk ever since arriving at Stainton Park at the beginning of the 2001-2002 season and also spent time at Manchester City polishing up his undoubted skills.
Now he is benefitting from the expertise of former Rochdale and Bolton goalkeeper David Felgate, who joined the Boro backroom staff last summer. All that could rebound on the Boro though if one of the many predators are successful in luring him away.
Conference side Morecambe and high-flying Nationwide League Division Two outfit Wigan Athletic are the latest giving Hurst the once over and, as in the past, if a big enough offer comes in, Boro are likely to cash in, although the money coming in from the current FA Cup run could be a factor.
That would leave them with only Felgate to fill in, and while he would no doubt do a job, much like Ian Senior has done for the Boro on occasions, advancing years do not make it the ideal scenario in either case and neither Felgate or Senior are the answer, other than on a short term basis.
Ideally, Hurst would like to hold on to Hurst and move up into the UniBond Premier Division to give him and them the higher standard of football they both deserve a shot at.
That isn't going to happen this season unless there is a quick, dramatic and sustained turnaround in Boro's league fortunes, starting with next Tuesday night's home game against Workington.
Last Saturday's 7-0 win in the FA Cup at Rossington will, no doubt, have done Boro's confidence a lot of good and they stay on the cup trail with an FA Trophy preliminary round home game against Eastwood Town on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
