A LOUNGE of a Bury house was gutted by fire in a blaze started by a lighted candle.
Crews from Bury and Ramsbottom fought the outbreak at the property in Collen Crescent, Brandlesholme, at 11.30pm on Saturday (Sept 28).
Officers said a lighted candle in the lounge had burned down, setting fire to newspapers. The lounge was extensively damaged and the remainder of the house was smoke logged. Occupier Jeremy Skelly (34), escaped injury.
Firefighters were at the scene for two and a half hours.
