THE original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, star of the 1968 film, will be making a flying visit to the Village Hotel & Leisure Club in Bury on Sunday (Oct 6).
Owner of the famous car, Pierre Picton, will be appearing in full Caractacus Potts dress alongside Chitty from 2pm until 3.45pm in the hotel car park. All are welcome to come along.
And some children will be given the once in a lifetime chance to have their photographs taken with Chitty and Pierre in return for a donation to Bury Hospice.
Local woman Rose Cook and her family will even be having a ride in the car after winning a prize draw, including full Sunday lunch, organised by the hotel's restaurant.
This will be Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's first visit to Bury, even though the famous number plate GEN11 was registered locally.
Village Hotel manager Steve Lee said: "Chitty has recently made a massive comeback, courtesy of the stage show, and we know that there are loads of people who would love the chance to see the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which appeared in the film."
Chitty will be on parade in the Mill Gate shopping centre, Bury, all next week.
