FOUR houses in the Padiham have been earmarked for demolition by the council.
The properties include two in Cliff Street and one each in Dean Street and Hirst Street.
According to a council report the houses in Cliff Street and Dean Street have been vacant for a prolonged period and are in "poor, dilapidated condition".
The house in Hirst Street has been a source of complaints from local residents and ward councillors.
Both properties were found to be suffering from structural problems. The owners of all properties were contacted before the council made its decision on demolition.
A spokesman for Burnley Borough Council said: "Due to the feelings of the owners, the extent of the repair works required and the high costs, renovation is not considered to be the most satisfactory course of action to deal with the poor conditions."
