BURY boss Andy Preece has hauled his jubilant cup heroes back down to earth by warning that their fixture against Southend is far more important than Wednesday night's humiliation of Bolton.

Shakers fans and players alike are still coming to terms with the shock win over their rivals, which has earned them a place in tomorrow's third round draw.

But Preece is determined to return their focus to life in Division Three as they bid to set their promotion campaign back on track at Gigg Lane tomorrow.

"This is a much bigger game than the Bolton match, without a doubt," he said.

"We have to set a target to win our next two matches and that should put us in the play-off positions.

"Wednesday night was fantastic for everyone involved with Bury but getting promotion into Division Two is still the most important thing for us."

With victory seemingly a must for Preece, he is unlikely to make too many changes form the side which outplayed their Premiership opposition at The Reebok.

The only certain absentee is midfield ace George Clegg, who suffered medial ligament damage in a challenge with David Holdsworth, which looks certain to keep him sidelined for up to eight weeks.

Club captain Martyn Forrest should slot comfortably into his place in the starting line-up but wrestling the skipper's armband from Jon Newby might prove a difficult task.

Shakers' top scorer was magnificent at Bolton, enhancing his reputation as a man bound for higher climbs to the delight of his manager.

"Newby's a real live wire," said Preece.

"He's very difficult to track because of his good movement and he's always very positive when he gets the ball.

"Other clubs have come in for him in the past and he had a chance to move to Oldham last year but he doesn't want to leave.

"He has told me he enjoys his football at this club and we are delighted to keep hold of him. He's a great talent and still learning his game."
