STUDENTS at Nelson and Colne College could soon have all their classes on one site after its governors gave the go-ahead for a new development.
They have approved the application stage for a one-site college at Reedyford in Nelson and this will now go forward to the Learning and Skills Council.
The proposal would enable the college to further improve its educational service, which it provides for the Pendle community.
A full range of courses for school leavers and adults would be available on one site, housed in new or refurbished buildings, which would be more convenient for students having to travel between the Barrowford Road site in Colne and the Reedyford site.
The Barrowford site would cease to be used but the college's smaller community centres in the borough would remain open.
College principal Kath Belton said: "This has great significance for the future development of the college. More choice and better facilities would be available for students.
"However, we will continue to keep a strong presence in Colne through our present community centres.
"We will work with our present and future stakeholders to make sure our college for Pendle continues to offer choice and high quality for all our students".
