FATHER of Bury popstar Suzanne Shaw says his daughter will bounce back following the break-up of her band Hear'Say.

Vinnie Crowshaw, of Dunsters Avenue, Brandlesholme, said that Suzanne, who lived in Stand Lane, Radcliffe, as a child, would "take stock of the situation" and dismissed reports that abuse from the public was behind the split.

The news broke less than 48 hours after Suzanne's 21st birthday party on Sunday (Sept 29), which was attended by friends, family and members of the band.

Vinnie told the Bury Times: "Everyone had been in party mood and there was no indication that anything was about to happen, so the news was a bit of a shock.

"It was sad, but because of the way the band were formed, there was always a lot of pressure from the very beginning.

"Suzanne has had a great two years out of it all, and is now going to take some time off to take stock of the situation before she makes any decisions about where she is going to go.

"As well as singing, she has always enjoyed acting."

Already, she is being touted as a possible replacement for Tracy Shaw in Coronation Street after revealing she is keen to take up an acting career. Tracy is set to leave the soap where she plays the dizzy glamourpuss Maxine Peacock.

Suzanne shot to fame early last year when she emerged as one of the winners of the TV audition show Popstars.

She hails from Orwell Close, Bury, and is a former pupil of St Gabriel's RC High.

Suzanne visited the school to a rousing reception soon after her inclusion in the five-piece group had been announced.

The band achieved a record-breaking rate of sales with their chart-topping debut single Pure and Simple.

But their popularity waned following the departure of Wigan girl Kym Marsh from the band, amid rumours of in-fighting.
