A 20-YEAR-OLD man had to be talked down from the wall of Thwaites brewery roof-top car park four times in five days.
Blackburn magistrates heard that police had genuine fears that Mark Anthony Leggatt was about to commit suicide.
Leggatt, of St Stephens Avenue, Blackburn, admitted a breach of the peace and was bound over in the sum of £50 for 12 months.
Neil White, prosecuting, said that shortly after midnight yesterday, police called to the brewery car park found Leggatt standing on the edge, 35 feet above the ground.
"The police believed he was about to commit suicide and perhaps more disturbing is the fact that in the last four days he has tried to do this on three further occasions," said Mr White.
"He has been detained on each occasion and released without charge. Applying for a bind-over is an attempt to nip things in the bud."
Kevin Preston, defending, said Leggatt had mental health problems for which he needed help.
He said Leggatt would be going to hospital immediately after his appearance in court for treatment to an injury.
"It would be nice to think he will get the help he really needs but I would not be too confident of that happening," said Mr Preston.
