DEAN CALCUTT is expecting a cheer as he runs out for Accrington Stanley at his old stomping ground Bradford Park Avenue tomorrow.
The tricky winger hopes the home fans at the Horsfall Stadium will give him a warm reception - despite the fact that he ditched their club in favour of Stanley in the summer!
Calcutt switched to the Reds in the hope of achieving his dream of Conference football and is satisfied he made the right choice.
"I left Bradford for purely footballing reasons," said Calcutt, who has bagged three goals for his new club since the £5,000 move two days before the start of the season.
"Even if they had finished top of the league they couldn't have gone up, and obviously that is not the case at Accrington."
Tomorrow the Reds are hoping to continue their unbeaten run which has bagged them 10 wins and two draws from their first 12 league games of the season.
They top the UniBond Premier Division by five points - and their title aspirations were given a major boost on Wednesday night when they beat second-in-the-table Burscough 4-2.
"I am surprised at the start we have made, I think everyone here is," said Calcutt.
"We were quietly confident but we just can't stop winning."
Calcutt received a prickly reception when he returned to his old club Emley but he is expecting more from the Bradford fans.
"I really miss Bradford and got on well with everyone there. I think people understand why I left, it was for football reasons and nothing more."
Bradford Park Avenue were the side Stanley beat on penalties in the UniBond League Cup final last year so they will be hoping to get their revenge - and put the knife in the Reds' promotion dream.
Stanley boss John Coleman said: "It will be a tough game. I have seen them play and I was very impressed. They've had some good results and are a strong side but we have to go there sooner or later, it might as well be now."
And after watching his side come back from 2-0 down with half an hour to play against Burscough, Coleman reckons he has learned something.
"I was delighted with the way we played against Burscough," he said. "I'd be delighted if we came back from 2-0 down against anyone but they're a good side.
"I think going 2-0 down forced us to commit men forward and in the end it showed that that is when we play best, that's the approach we need to take more."
Barry Shuttleworth is suspended after being sent off against Emley but Paul Mullin should return after missing Wednesday's game because of work commitments.
Bradford manager Trevor Storton this week praised the Reds and Coleman.
"They are a very strong side," said Storton.
"They are a side geared up for promotion and hats off to John Coleman, he has spent wisely.
"But they are beatable. We will be able to create chances, I think we are the best in the league at that, but we have to put them away.
"I expect about 700 people there and it should be a really good, tight game."
