I HAVE just read the story about recycling in the Bury Times and, as a resident of Bury for many years, I can't help feeling that we have been here before.
About 12 years ago, when I lived on Rudgwick Drive, Bury, everyone in the locality had two wheelie bins, one green and one grey. Each bin was collected fortnightly with the green one designed for recyclable waste and the grey one for non-recyclables. Obviously this did not require extra refuse vehicles as the collection frequency did not increase.
This policy also seemed to have the backing of local residents and, for a while, people thought "green". It is too easy with the present policy to just dispose of everything in the same bin.
