THE mother of Hear'Say singer Suzanne Shaw has admitted she is "disappointed" the pop group has split.
Janet Kish, who lives in Bury, said her daughter was taking time out to think about her career.
But she told the Bolton Evening News that she knew nothing about rumours that Suzanne is set to take a part in Coronation Street.
Hear'Say split earlier this week, claiming abuse from the public had become too much.
Mrs Kish said: "I'm disappointed the band has split but Suzanne is just thinking about the future now.
"I guess things change in the world of pop and that is what we have seen over the past two years.
"I haven't spoken to Suzanne all that much about the split but it doesn't appear to be affecting her. I've read a lot of stuff about her getting a part in Coronation Street but she hasn't said anything to me about it."
The blonde singer is said by friends to be considering resuming a career in acting. She is currently away on holiday.
Mrs Kish added: "The heartening thing is that she has done so much since winning a place in Hear'Say.
"Many people would give anything to have done what she has."
Hear'Say once had Britain's fastest selling debut single of all time with Pure and Simple. The song shot to the top, selling millions of copies on the back of the group's success on ITV1's Popstars.
Since then the band have been booed off stage and subjected to abuse. Suzanne, along with bandmates Noel Sullivan, Myleene Klass, Danny Foster and Wigan's Kym Marsh, have been accused of ruining pop by being part of a manufactured group. Kym later left and was replaced by Johnny Shentall.
But just when it seemed that things could not get any worse, a chart showing Britain's all-time favourite number ones currently sees Hear'Say struggling to make the top 100.
People are being asked to vote for their favourite number one -- choosing from more than 950 songs to have hit the coveted top slot since Al Martino's Here In My Heart got to number one in 1952. More than 95,000 votes have been cast so far and the closing date is November 5. Darren Haynes, marketing manager for The Official UK Charts Company, said: "Pure and Simple was a great track and sold very well but that doesn't mean to say it will top an all-time favourite chart."
Hear'Say have split less than two years after they were created by the hit ITV series.
Suzanne said: "When you've been the biggest band in the country, to be suddenly going to roadshows and being booed is just too much."
