LENNIE Johnrose, released by Burnley for the second time in four months a week ago, could still have a career in League football.
The combative midfielder has enjoyed a couple of training sessions with their division club Carlisle United and he is n now waiting to see if he has a future in Cumbria.
"When I was told that Burnley was letting me go I never gave up hope that I might find another club," he said.
"I have had contact from a couple of non-League clubs but I have also been training up at Carlisle this week.
"I am pleased with how it has gone and the manager has spoken to me about going up there.
"I am going back to train with them on Monday but the problem is that they are currently in administration and so not allowed to sign any players.
"That will change on Tuesday and so I will have to wait and see what will happen then. I know that they have sorted out the financial situation at the club and so hopefully it will be okay. I have really enjoyed it up there."
Having been released by Clarets boss Stan Ternent at the end of a month long contract Johnrose had confessed that he might be forced to look for a new career away from the game.
But the man who started his career at Ewood Park before also playing for Preston, Hartlepool, Bury and finally Burnley, is still only 32 and he is convinced that he still has plenty to offer.
Carlisle have struggled for the past few seasons, regularly flirting with the Nationwide Conference, and once again they are at the wrong end of the table with just Swansea and Boston below them.
Manager Roddy Collins has been looking at bringing in a number of new faces alongside Johnrose including the Wimbledon player Des Byrne.
Johnrose did not feature in Carlisle's friendly against Newcastle United in the week but he hopes it will not be long before he is playing League football again.
Having turned down Blackpool and been released by Burnley, Johnrose is desperate to get back into the game. His month at Turf Moor has at least guaranteed that he is fit for the fray and next week should help decide his immediate future.
Clarets fans will be hoping he does get a deal as he remained a popular figure at Turf Moor.
