A PROUD builder is keeping it in the family by naming houses in his latest project after his two daughters.
Peter Maden, managing director of Waterfoot company Glengarth Construction, hit on the idea after reading about Lancashire mill owners who named streets after their offspring.
And now daughters Lauren, 14 and Abby, 11, who attend Fearns High School, Booth Road, Bacup, have provided the inspiration behind the two styles of property on the Glengarth site in Whitewell Bottom.
Peter said: "The idea struck me when I heard that mill owners used to name streets after their children during the time cotton was a major industry in the region. Some were given names like Ruth -- so we have revived the tradition. .
"The girls found it funny when first I told them about it but now I have gone ahead they are embarrassed to think that somebody is living in a house named after them.
"But, looking on the bright side, it's something they'll be able to tell their children."
It is not the first time Peter has taken on this wacky idea. He named his grand home in Waterfoot Ellenby after his much-loved wife Ellen.
He added: "The house was built in 1997 and Ellen was quite embarrassed when I told her what it was going to be called. But she has had a while to get used to it and now quite likes the idea."
The four-bedroomed homes are called Abbys named after Abby and the three-bedroomed ones are named Laurens after Lauren.
The Whitewell Bottom site is still under construction but when completed will feature 18 detached three and four bedroomed houses.
They are on the market for between £99,950 and £140,000 with Rawtenstall-based estate agents Moving Works.
