GRAEME Souness has one message for his Rovers stars ahead of tomorrow's visit by Spurs: "Don't suffer a European hangover."

Glenn Hoddle's side will arrive at Ewood Park knowing that if things had been different in Cardiff earlier this year it would have been them and not Rovers coming back from a foreign adventure.

But Souness insisted: "Tottenham won't be fired up because they want revenge for the Worthington Cup, they'll be fired up because there's three Premiership points at stake.

"They made a very good start to the season, although they've dropped off a little bit in the last couple of games, but they'll look at our situation and think we've played in Europe, we've travelled back and we'll be feeling the effects of that. They'll try to capitalise on it but we are fortunate in that we have quite a young group so I expect them to be fully recovered in time for the game."

Rovers are looking to complete a hat-trick of Premier League wins and Souness said: "Obviously, we want to keep our run going.

"We've won our last two Premiership games and the Premier League still remains the most important thing to us.

"We can put the UEFA Cup to bed for a bit now so it's all about tomorrow now and that's a big three points for us.

"This is a big year for all of our young players because I want to keep my job and I want to be in the Premier League again next year."

Two wins and two clean sheets against Leeds and West Brom have ensured that Rovers will go into the match in confident mood and Souness will hope the defensive lapses that saw them lose a three goal lead against CSKA Sofia will be put behind them.

But he is convinced that the bear pit atmosphere his players survived in Sofia will be nothing but a good thing in the long run.

"What people have got to understand is they don't have lives filled with Sky TV and Gameboys or computers or Multiplex cinemas," said Souness.

"Their biggest form of entertainment and the most important thing in their lives is football.

"I've played in Eastern European countries where there will be 100,000 people acting like that.

"So it was a great experience for some of our younger players."

Tomorrow, Dwight Yorke is definitely out with a hamstring injury but Craig Short has an outside chance of returning after his calf problems.

Skipper Garry Flitcroft is the man most likely to be back but if he does play it will be with an injection to his shoulder.

Striker Andy Cole faces a late check on a slight groin strain.
