BLACKBURN midfielder David Thompson was today celebrating a shock call-up to the England squad.
The 25-year-old midfielder was originally left out of Sven Goran Eriksson's squad for England's Euro 2004 qualifier with Slovakia when it was named last night.
However, West Ham's Trevor Sinclair was forced to pull out of the party this morning after sustaining an injury in the Hammers' Premiership encounter with Birmingham on Saturday.
And that prompted Eriksson to turn to Thompson who has been in outstanding form for Rovers since his £1.5 million move from Coventry City a month ago.
England coach Eriksson told www.thefa.com: "David has been impressive over the last few weeks and I have seen him play on a couple of occasions.
"I am now looking forward to working with him for these two important games."
