FORTY years after they met in the FA Cup Final at Wembley, Burnley and Spurs will go head to head in the third round of the Worthington Cup.
And having beaten Sheffield Wednesday on the same afternoon as being paired with last season's beaten finalists, Clarets boss Stan Ternent admitted: "That makes it a perfect day.
"We wanted to get a big Premiership side and now we want two more things - a full house and to be on the magic box.
"We got a home draw against a good side and you can't ask for more than that. It should create a lot of interest, they have got a lot of top class international players."
Ternent claimed that he did not know the draw until after the 3-1 win at the Owls but it is just the sort of fixture he had hoped for.
Winger and scorer on Saturday, Glen Little, said: "The players heard that we would be playing Spurs before the match but we did not have much chance to think about it because we had a job to do against Wednesday.
"But it is a great draw for us as players as well as the club and we will all want to be fit for that one."
Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle was at Ewood Park yesterday and following his side's 2-1 defeat of Blackburn he admitted: "It will be a tough game for us at Burnley. It is a tough draw but we are looking forward to it."
The Wembley final meeting in 1962 saw Spurs win 3-1 but Clarets legend Jimmy Robson enjoyed the distinction of becoming the scorer of the 100th Cup Final goal at the famous old ground.
The result was the same when they last met in the second round of this competition nine years ago. After a 0-0 draw at Turf Moor, Spurs won 3-1 at White Hart Lane.
The match is due to be played the week starting November 4 and with Spurs scheduled to play on the Sunday it is possible the game will be played on Wednesday 6, avoiding a clash with Bonfire Night.
