A PUB chef has won a prestigious national pub chain's Chef of the Year competition.
Terry Walker, 29, of The Malthouse Farm Pub, Whittle-le-Woods, won the coveted title of Chef & Brewer Chef of the Year in the final round of the competition in Northampton. Celebrity chef Tony Tobin of BBC's Ready Steady Cook was on the judging panel.
Terry charmed the judges' with a selection of traditional Lancashire dishes prepared with a foreign twist, including Heapy's Banger Pudding using the technique of French souffle, snappy salmon with passion fruit dressing and spiked chicken with chilli and orange sauce.
Chef & Brewer director Mike Holton said: "It is a joy to see imaginative dishes being created using local ingredients."
Terry takes home a prize of top class chef's equipment and a VIP study trip to Spain, which he is confident will give him lots more cooking inspiration to bring to the pub back home.
