THE St John's Church Christmas Fayre will be held this year on Saturday, November 16, from 11.30am to 2pm.
Wellyphant, Fireman Sam and Postman Pat will be in attendance as well as Father Christmas. Admission is free, lunches will be on sale and there will be cake, bottle tombola, book and tombola stalls among others, as well as various games.
Tickets will also be on sale for the Grand Christmas Draw with a first prize of a £100 holiday voucher donated by Althams Travel. Two Christmas hampers, turkey, wine, sherry and chocolates are also in the list of prizes. Donations of items for any of the stalls would be very gratefully received.
THE jumble sale this evening at the Village Hall starts at 6.30pm and admission is 20p. Proceeds go to the Village Hall Management Committee. The hall is also available for hire for children's parties etc at £6 per hour, details can be obtained by telephoning 01282 428594.
THE October meeting of the Mothers' Union will also be held this evening in Church House. The guest speaker is Allan Tomlinson, a retired musician who played with the Halle Orchestra and others. This is an open meeting and everyone is welcome to attend.
THE Smarties tubes which were given out to church members and organisations to be filled with coins, raised £1144.60 for the church building fund. A new boiler is needed for the church for this winter, so everyone needs to come up with ideas to raise more money for the fund.
A CANDLE Party has been organised by the Church, Home and School Association for Wednesday, October 16. Admission is £1.50. Details can be obtained from the school on 01282 421395 or any CHSA member.
THE Macmillan Cancer Relief coffee evening held by Cliviger Guides raised £80.75 for the charity.

Starting at 7.30pm for 8pm (tasting starts at 8pm) the tickets are priced at £5. Samples of food from various countries will also be included and there will be a raffle and quizzes.
