YOUTH and community services in Pendle could suffer if more people are not recruited soon.
The Lancashire Youth and Community Service in Pendle, a service provided by the county's education department, has struggled to recruit from adverts and bosses have warned that unless they are able to fill vacancies with trained and untrained people some work will have to close.
District team manager, John Mason, said: "We are concerned that as communities need more support we are unable to provide an effective service because we cannot recruit new staff.
"The work is exciting, varied and dynamic. It includes art, drama, outdoor education, residential work, projects, environmental work, interagency schemes and Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
"It takes place in youth clubs, community centres and on the streets, outdoors and in rural areas during the day and in the evenings. We look at issues that affect the lives of young people and communities as well as being involved in ordinary day-to-day activity-based work."
Anyone with an interestshould attend an informal open evening at the district youth and community office, in Byron Road, at 7pm on Monday.
