A COUPLE celebrated their Golden Anniversary, and half a century of hard work, with their large family.
Marie, 70, and Victor Driver, of Wordsworth Close, Great Harwood, staged a party at Checco's restaurant in their home town and invited, among others, their seven children and nine grandchildren.
The couple met on a night out in a since-demolished dance hall on Blackburn Boulevard in 1947.
Victor proposed after four years of dating and they were married at Park Road Congregational Church, which is now the site of Blackburn's ice arena. A son came along in 1953 followed by six more children in the next 15 years. The couple lived in Bastwell until 1956 when they moved to Great Harwood, where Victor, 73, ran the Handyman's Shop in Blackburn Road for 29 years.
Victor said: "We are devoted to each other and we have our family altogether in the area."
Victor and Marie are pictured during the celebrations.
