A BLIND man who was too scared to return to his home after a harrowing stabbing attack has been re-homed.
Graham Jones has been offered a property close to his mother and brother by Salford-based housing association SPACE.
The 43-year-old felt too vulnerable to return to the Leamington Road home in Blackburn where he was stabbed and knocked to the ground by a burglar three weeks ago.
But administrative delays meant that he was homeless and squatting at a relative's house.
Today he said he was "over the moon" with the transfer.
"I am just so happy to start the process of feeling safe again" he said. "Now I am closer to my family and will be able to relax."
Graham had already been on a waiting list with Manchester-based housing association SPACE for eight months.
And Blackburn with Darwen Council, responsible for the social housing in the area, were in the process of carrying out a 28-day compulsory assessment of the circumstances. Ian Heppenstall, asset manager for SPACE, said: "We are delighted to offer a solution to this housing problem . These properties were taken over in a stock transfer from the local authority and have been a huge success.
"These were exceptional circumstances and we are glad there has been a positive conclusion."
But the attack has left Mr Graham permanently scarred.
"I don't really need any adaptations but I do want my next house to be my resting place. I don't want any trouble.
"I just want to be able to walk around with out having to look over my shoulder and be on edge all the time."
Mr Jones has been in contact with the police since the incident and is now taking anti-depressants. He said he still feels too frightened to go into town alone.
