DISABLED people have scored in their bid for cash for new elite sport facilities in the region.
Wigan's Disability Sports Forum and the Council's Sports Development Team have won £30,000 from Sport England to open a multi-sports club for disabled athletes.
It will be set up at Robin Park in Wigan and is expected to become a leading multi-sport centre for disabled people in the North West.
Funding will be dished out over three years and its aims will include setting up an adult wheelchair basketball team and a junior athletic coaching programme for young people.
