CLITHEROE returned to winning ways with a convincing win away at Flixton.
The game burst into life when a home defender was sent off for appearing to aim a kick at Lee Cryer.
Clitheroe took the game to the visitors with Gary Jackson going close on a couple of occasions.
Also Barrie Hart fired a shot against the bar. Clitheroe keeper Kris Richens had little to do as the Blues looked to make the extra man pay.
It took an hour for the first goal to come when Hart was fouled inside the area.
Mark Stewart stepped up and although the keeper saved the spot kick, Stewart followed up to score.
A minute later the busy Jason Jones broke clear and as he rounded the keeper he was fouled.
Stewart stepped up again and made no mistake this time to open up a 2-0 scoreline to the Blues.
Cryer wrapped up the win on 85 minutes when he broke free and gave the keeper no chance in the one-on-one situation.
Youngsters Gary Jackson and John Paul Fagan had impressive games and were singled out for praise by player-manager Lee Sculpher.
"The young lads did very well and I'm pleased we got past what was a potential banana skin after Saturday's defeat at home to Newcastle."
He added: "We kept a clean sheet and were patient against the 10 men. We must now take this form with us away to Glossop on Saturday."
