SCHOOLHOUSE Players are stretching themselves for their latest terrific production.
The Playhouse Theatre regulars will bring 30 characters to life in the hilarious Second From Last in the Sack Race -- with just five actors!
Second From Last tells the real-life story of a young boy from birth to 18 years old, including national service.
The play is an autobiographical account of writer David Nobbs' upbringing in the north of England during the Second World War and brings to life three decades of the area's history on stage.
Mr Nobbs was the writer behind television's The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, and Second From Last will appeal to fans of his work, and anybody new to his stories.
The play tells the tale of main character, Henry Pratt, and how his life changes after his mother dies and the war begins.
Kathleen said: "The main character is passed from one relation to another, but he overcame it all because he was bright. He thwarted it all.
"We've never done anything like this before.
"It has really extended us as a dramatic group and the actors have to change from one character to another."
Second From last runs from until October 12 at the Playhouse Theatre, Market Street West, Preston.
Performances start at 7.30pm, and tickets cost £5 to £4. Contact Amanda on 720407.
