A SHAKEN Steve Gregory is calling for a crackdown on speeding motorists after a car careered off the road and demolished his garden wall.
The incident happened at around 8.30pm last Thursday (Oct 3) when a blue Escort spun off Radcliffe Moor Road, Radcliffe, and crashed into the wall at the rear of his home in Thoresby Close.
Mr Gregory said: "I heard a tremendous bang and didn't know what it was. I went running into the back garden and that's when I saw it.
"My wall and fence were smashed but fortunately the trees acted as a shock absorber and stopped the car from hurtling into my garden."
Mr Gregory (56) said it was a miracle that no pedestrians were passing at the time as he believes they would have been killed outright.
He added: "What's needed is a speed camera on this stretch of road.
"People come tearing around in the evening and it's not the first time homes have been damaged by cars coming off the road.
"If something isn't done soon there is going to be a real tragedy."
The driver of the car escaped uninjured.
