A GANG of four who dragged a man from his Fiat Punto in an attempted carjacking are being hunted by police.

The 21-year-old victim was approached by his attackers on Bury New Road, Whitefield, at 8.45pm on Sunday (Oct 6).

After opening the door and punching him in the face they pulled him from the driver's seat.

In the struggle that followed, one of the gang was headbutted and the man was able to get back in his car and escape.

The group had been travelling in a silver Ford Escort with a registration number similar to, but not matching, T786 NVM.

One offender was described as 6ft 3in, stocky, with closely cropped brown hair, aged between 23 and 26. He had a slight moustache, and wore a dark blue Nike hooded top, jeans and black woollen gloves.

A second man, aged around 20, was of a skinny build with spiky hair and strong sideburns. He was white with a strong Manchester accent and wore an old Manchester United T-shirt.

The third was black, aged around 25, with a round, clean-shaven face. He wore heavy jewellery, carried a rounders bat, and spoke with a Manchester accent.

Also with the group was a woman with long blonde, shoulder length, hair.
