QUALIFYING for a discount on the purchase of goods and services would not enter the minds of local footballers, when they signed on as members of Forever Bury, the Bury FC Supporters Society.
But to steal a famous phrase from the late, great commentator Ken Wolstenholme -- "It is now!"
Former computer manager, David Giffard, and his external relations team have been busy scouring the local business world and have come up with an ever-expanding range of discount offers from local retailers, now available to Forever Bury members on production of a membership card. At the last count, there were 18 firms and organisations on the list.
Space restrictions prevent full details being itemised here but they are all on the Forever Bury website.
For members who are not yet computerised, there is an offer of a £50 discount (five times the Society's annual membership fee) from a local firm, on the purchase price of a full computer system.
David was also heavily involved in the Leyden Brewery launch of Forever Bury beer. The Society receives £5 for every barrel sold. That epic win over Bolton must have boosted consumption to the benefit of everyone involved!
Meanwhile, there are other projects in the pipeline, including one which could make national headlines -- if it comes to pass. But that is for another time...watch this space!
Important reminder -- don't forget, Thursday, October 17, 7.30pm, Bury FC Social Club, the inaugural annual meeting of the Supporters' Society (members only), followed by a Fans Forum (open to all supporters whether members of Forever Bury or not) at 8.30pm.
