Deepdale La Coruna finally put the disappointments of the Abdul Valli Cup and the Summer 200 Cancer Relief Tournament behind them after they won the inaugural Royal Air Force under 12s tournament.
This time there were no mistakes in the final against Blackburn's Gujrat United at the Preston Sports Arena. After winning the group matches comfortably Deepdale faced Gujrat Rovers in the semis. That ended goalless and it needed a penalty-shoot out to separate the sides.
In the other semi-final Gujarat United scored an early goal then held on to beat Gujrat Rovers.
The final was fast and furious with both sides aiming to settle it in normal time. As the penalty shoot-out beckoned La Coruna missed a golden opportunity to claim the cup. But it went to penalties and Deepdale seemed to have been practising their spot kicks and ran out winners.
Habib Valli was voted player of the tournament.
Money raised from the tournament will be added to the £1,500 plus raised at the Abdul Valli Cup and will go to various relief charities.
Organisers wish to thank the Royal Air Force, Canaries FC, Preston Sports Arena Staff and the helpers and volunteers.
