ACTOR Anil Kapoor is looking forward to attending the massive indoor festival Mela 2002, which takes place from October 18-20 in Birmingham.
Even though he remains deliberately aloof from the usual Bollywood circles, Kapoor is undoubtedly one of the most respected actors of the genre. In terms of evolution, he was the link between the explosive styles of Amitabh Bachchan and the modern-day polish of Shah Rukh Khan.
Kapoor is filming in Mauritius for his latest outing Armaan, a film that unites him with Amitabh Bachchan, the man he dethroned from the top spot in the 1980s. He's excited about coming to Birmingham, and says: "I am coming back to the UK after a long time and am looking forward to meeting the fans.
"They have always humbled me with the great love they have shown. There are films that have no done so well in India but have been major hits in the UK and I will always be grateful to them."
Kapoor is also enjoying working with debut director Honey Irani on Armaan, and says: "She is an established writer so I've shared a great rapport with her for many years."
