DEAR Massi. In last months Asian Image there was letter by a JK of Blackburn about men and how they don't like it when the woman earns more than them.
I feel this is especially true within our community and it has been a major issue within my marriage.
I married my husband who was from abroad and he doesn't earn very much.
I earn three times as much as him. This was an issue even before we married and now two years on it remains so.
There has always been pressure from my family for me to stop working.
I have never intended to do that because I feel I would have wasted so much time getting into the position I am in.
I don't think all men are like that but those who do act like this are just so childish. Why should I not earn more money than him?
There is nothing in Islam that says I shouldn't.
And money should not be an issue at all.
