THE sky's the limit for the Excellence in Blackpool Project with the planned launch of 1,000 balloons to celebrate Excellence in Cities Week.
The project promotes high education standards for children in Blackpool and the special week will mark and promote their activities.
To start the week on Monday, the balloons bearing the EiC logo will be relased next to the project's illumination on the Promenade near the Tower by the Mayor of Blackpool Coun Ivan Taylor and the Mayoress, Coun Mrs Sylvia Taylor. Each balloon will represent a child who was helped by a learning mentor last year.
The week will include a poetry competition and a fun learning session at Blackpool Sixth Form College.
Forty successful pupils from learning support units will enjoy a day of activities on Thursday with the Royal Green Jackets at Weeton Barracks and there will be the launch of an arts education pack for schools at Grundy Art Gallery on Wednesday.
On Tuesday at the Expressive Arts Centre at Palatine High School there will be a presentation involving youngsters and outlining the EiB work over the last four years.
