YOUNGSTERS who fancy the star treatment on their birthday can now be transformed into their favourite pop idols, thanks to a new party plan.

Mum Vicky Jones, who owns Tufties Hair and Beauty off Bank Street, Rawtenstall, has come up with the Glam and Glitter idea.

It was triggered when her four-year-old daughter Shelby began popping into the shop to have her nails done.

Vicky said: "I am always stuck for party ideas. I'd done the usual McDonald's trips, cinema and all that and was thinking about what I would do when my little girl was not such a little girl any more.

"It was then that I came up with Glam and Glitter, aimed at girls and boys."

Vicky said the salon was used to children and the stylists were not troubled by the thought of a hoard of screaming youngsters.

She laughed: "We love youngsters at this salon. I have four stylists and three of them have children.

"We cater for kids by giving them their own special chairs and providing them with a Game Boy to keep them occupied.

"My little girl loves the idea -- but then she already comes in every Saturday to have her nails painted."

With a bit of gel, a splash of colour and lots of imagination, boys can be turned into Gareth Gates or David Beckham, while the girls can be transformed to look like Kylie.

Vicky said: "We offer something to suit everyone. For the boys we can gel hair, add colour by using wash out gels and body art to make it look like they have a tattoo.

"The girls can have their hair pinned-up, nails painted, colour braiding with lots of glitter and whatever else they might want. I think we have created something which people will like".

Glam and Glitter parties are for kids aged between four and 15. On Wednesday, children from Cresmoor Children's Home will receive the star treatment.

Prices start from £7 per child up to £10 including a goody bag. For details about the parties, call the salon on 01706 225566.
