THE sentencing of a Blackburn man found guilty of a street shooting in New York has been postponed for the second time as the search for new evidence goes on.
Manzoor Qadar will now face sentencing by a Brooklyn judge in November after changing his solicitor. His sentencing was due in September, and then again this week.
The 41-year-old father of six insists he is innocent, and his family in Holland Street are fighting to prove his claim.
His brother Khalid said: "We know he is innocent and everything we do has to centre on that."
Qadar was found guilty in April of conspiring in a drive-by shooting that took place in Brooklyn on November 22 six years ago and using a firearm.
In the incident, which was preceded by a bitter saga over an arranged marriage, Manzoor's cousin, Shaukat Parvez, 33, was killed by a single bullet wound to the chest.
Khalid, 45, said: "We are trying to get a retrial, but for that we need new evidence so that we can appeal against the first decision. A lot of people know what really happened, but they will not speak out because they are too frightened."
Qadar is currently being detained in prison.
