FIRE, road and personal safety will be the themes of an event in Barnoldswick Town Square on Saturday, October 19.

The safety awareness event has been organised by local police in partnership with the Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Primary Care Trust and other emergency services.

During the event, which will run from 10am to 2pm, visitors will be able to see displays by Pennine Division's road policing unit and the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.

Co-organiser, Sergeant Russ Gregory, from the road policing unit, said: "Making the roads safer, particularly for children, is a key priority for the road policing unit this year and there are a number of ways in which we aim to achieve that objective.During the safety day we will be handing out information on road safety and talking to visitors about some of the simple things they can do to reduce the risk of being injured in an accident -- like making sure they wear seatbelts."
