YOUR editorial (LET, October 2) only goes to prove the political bias which exists in the media as a whole.
For the Lancashire Evening Telegraph to praise the 'PALS' system as an improvement on the Community Health Councils is nothing more than praising the appointment of Labour Party-selected patients' representatives.
The CHC could hold the relevant trust organisations to account. The 'PALS' system does not have this power.
For a supposed non-political newspaper to give its whole-hearted support to a body which is nothing more than an extension of government control defies belief!
Were it a Tory government which had done the same disempowering act, you would be condemning it on the front page as stealing power from the very people whom had the interests of the patient at heart!
All we now have are mini-quangos, controlled by the power base of No 10's 'Kitchen Cabinet.'
