A FORMER Darwen man has just been appointed a professor of law at the University of London.
Leslie Moran, 47, whose parents Annie and Alec live in Norfolk Street, Darwen, is now head of the law school at the university's Birkbeck College.
He was educated at Holy Trinity Primary and Darwen Technical School before going to Sheffield University and then Manchester, where he was a solicitor.
Prof Moran held a lecturing post at the University of Lancaster until five years ago when he began working at the University of London.
He said: "I am delighted. It's a very successful law school, in the top 10 per cent in the country and has a great record for research and has high standards in teaching."
