A MAN with two previous convictions for drink driving could be facing jail after striking a third time.
Burnley Magistrates were told how Andrew Wells, 21, had already been sent to detention for four months and served a three year ban.
The last ban expired just a month before the latest offences when he was more than two and half times the legal limit.
Wells, of Wellington Street, Barnoldswick, admitted driving with excess alcohol, driving without a licence and not having insurance.
His case was adjourned until November 6 for an all-options open pre-sentence report and he was given an interim ban.
Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said just before midnight Wells overtook a driver on double white lines and then cut in sharply in front of him to avoid a collison with an oncoming car.
The motorist had to brake quickly and kept watch on Wells' vehicle as it continued on Glenview Road, Burnley.
He alerted the police and then saw the defendant get out and push the car around the corner on to Manchester Road.
Officers arrived as Wells parked the vehicle and he was arrested and taken to the police station. The lower of two tests showed 96 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 mililitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.
Mr Robinson said the defendant had two previous convictions for drink driving and had finished a three-year ban about a month before the offences.
