THE hunt is on for photographs of Darwen greenhouses dating back 100 years.
June Ellison, of Cyprus Street, is tracking the history of Whitehall Park to highlight its decline over the years.
Miss Ellison has used copies from 1902 of the greenhouses in the park to feature in a local weekly history class. But snaps of the floral displays remain unearthed.
She said: "The greenhouses were a delight the whole year round and gave enormous pleasure to many hundreds of Darweners.
"My history project shows the sad decline of the park over the years and I have taken snaps of the same scenes now and it is an utter disgrace."
So far research at Darwen Library, local camera clubs and the Lancashire Evening Telegraph archive has failed to shed any light on the floral displays.
June added: "If anyone has photos of the greenhouses I would be delighted to have a look."
The history group meets on Monday mornings at Holker House, Railway Road.
