I COULDN'T help but notice the downward spiral that 'Grandstand' on a Saturday afternoon seems to be on at present.

Years ago, it was the programme for all types of live sport.

The other week, apart from Football Focus and the half and full time results service, all they had to offer was racing -- all afternoon!

There were days when they had the top sports -- all the finals of major sports events, but they now seem well behind when it comes to sports coverage.

With Sky TV more or less having taken over, it's probably only a matter of time before they lose the only two major events left that they cover -- the Open and Wimbledon.
