A CRIME prevention initiative designed to protect children and young people in sport has been launched in Lancashire.
Child-Safe is the brainchild of the Lancashire Partnership Against Crime and has the backing of Lancashire Police, the probation service, social services and the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
A pack offers organisations information on how to develop child protection policies and create a child-safe environment. It also advises parents and organisers what to look out for in relation to child abuse and the procedure for reporting concerns.
It calls on organisations to follow the Child-Safe Code, by adopting a voluntary policy and best-practice approach, appointing a child protection officer, making staff and volunteers aware of the code and keeping parents informed.
