THE financial implications of Leigh Centurions' failure to make Super League are already beginning to be felt at Hilton Park.
With the future of head coach Paul Terzis still unresolved, Leigh have revealed that three of last Saturday's Grand Final team will not be at the club next season.
Scrum-half Bobbie Goulding will be released, free-scoring second rower Andy Isherwood is to join Widnes Vikings and prop Vila Matautia is set to retire.
And there could be more departures once the Centurions' board have spoken to all the players and coaching staff.
Chairman Mike Nolan says: "We'll be letting the dust settle before speaking to the players and coaching staff about next season.
"We have already drawn up a budget for next season which will see us spending less than we have done this year. The harsh reality is that we can't afford to be paying Super League money in the NFP. We'll have to cut our cloth accordingly.
"Over the next 7-14 days I'm sure we'll find out who really wants to stay and play for Leigh.
"The club has decided not to retain the services of Bobbie Goulding for next season while Andy Isherwood is out of contract and has decided to join Widnes. In Andy's case he's got a good offer to go and play in Super League and it would be unfair of us if we held him back."
With regard to the coach, Mr Nolan said no decision has been made but hinted that a new contract could be offered to the Aussie.
"It could be that the Board will decide to offer Paul new terms. Whether they would be acceptable to him, I don't know," he added.
"We are looking to retain as many of this season's squad as possible and make some additions along the way. But the amount of money we'll have available won't be as much as this season."
Desire to stay
Terzis has reiterated his desire to stay at Leigh and see the job through.
"I've never said I wanted to leave the club, the past two and half years have been great. But I've still got to sit down with the chairman and talk things over to see where they see the club heading.
"I've got to make sure everything is right regarding the club and my family before I make any decisions. If everything is right, I would like to stay.
Isherwood and centre Jon Roper have been told they must face the RL Disciplinary Panel in Leeds next Tuesday to answer allegations of high tackles in the Grand Final.
