ATHERTON may be 30 miles away from the sea but this doesn't affect the spirit of the town's Royal National Lifeboat Institution supporters.
The Atherton branch of the RNLI was founded in 1911 and is staging charity nights tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday (both starting at 7.30pm) at Bag Lane Methodist Church.
Both feature top entertainer Mavis Aldred's Jubilee Showtime. An open invite has gone out to support the RNLI and enjoy a great night of entertainment.
Tickets cost £4. Call 01942 891422 for details.
And from 7.30pm on Friday, November 8 its RNLI dance night at the Formby Hall with a real lifeboat taking centre stage.
