POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 60-year-old woman was seriously injured on the East Lancs Road.
The accident happened at 7pm last Friday near to the Church Lane junction at Lowton.
A Ford Escort, driven by a 39-year-old St Helens man, was travelling east-bound. As it passed through the Church Lane junction it collided with the pedestrian who had stepped into the road. A Nissan Micra, driven by a 43-year-old Preston man, then collided with the rear of the Escort.
The woman was taken to Warrington Hospital. Police described her condition as serious but stable.
